The Mummy 1932 Movie Poster, Is One Cool And Valuable Monster Movie Poster!

1932 Mummy Movie PosterThe Mummy 1932 movie poster is without a doubt one of my favorite vintage monster movie posters. The artwork and the colors are just stunning!

The Mummy, first released in 1932, sold at a Sotheby’s auction in 1997 for a cool $ 453,500. Simply unbelievable for something that must have cost just pennies to print. This one-sheet poster of The Mummy measures 27 x 41 inches and is one of the most highly sought after and valued movie posters of all time. The film was made in 1932 for an estimated $196,000 and its release date was  December 22, 1932. Just in time for Christmas! It seems that Halloween would have been a more appropriate time to release this motion picture.

The design for the Mummy 1932 poster is typical of the artist Karoly Grosz who designed many of Universal’s horror movie posters at the time including The Invisible Man, The Bride of Frankenstein and The Old Dark House. Unfortunately, there is not much known biographically about this wonderful artist.

The movie starred Boris Karloff, one of the most popular horror movie stars of his day. He is most certainly one of my own personal favorites! I’m sure this didn’t hurt the going price any.

The Mummy Movie Trailer:

Not only is the The Mummy 1932 movie poster great, so is the movie itself. I love all the Mummy movies I have watched over the years. Mummy movies are great viewing, as well as a trip down memory lane at Halloween or anytime. Pop up a big bowl of popcorn and introduce the kids or grand kids to these wonderful old classic monster movies. I promise it will be a great bonding time for everyone. Happy Halloween!
