American Horror Story, On FX, One Of The Best In A Long Time!
I just finished watching the last DVD of the FX hit, American Horror Story. I have got to say that this is one hell of a show. At first I didn’t know whether or not I would really care for it. You see, I am not really all that into the blood and gore type slasher films, etc. I know what you’re saying, “But you have a Halloween website, for crying out loud!” I know I do. I just usually skew towards all the retro Halloween goodies from the period I grew up, the 1960’s. I was held spellbound from the first episode.
The opening title sequence to season one, is a masterpiece in and of itself. I particularly love the fact they use some cool old Victorian postmortem photography of children in in. I have always been fascinated by that subject. The music is mesmerizing and creepy to say the least.
American Horror Story Season-1 Opening Sequence:
The story centers around an already dysfunctional family from Boston, that moves to L.A. to get away from their prior life. They purchase a cool old house built in the 1920’s by a doctor and his wife, the original owners. They manage to pick the house up for a steal after Marci, the real estate agent gives them a tour of the place. Their teenage daughter loves the fact that the house has a history, and the prior owners, a gay couple were murdered there.
Next door lives an eccentric woman named Constance, with southern charm, played by the fabulous Jessica Lange. To say that she is stellar in this role is no stretch of the imagination.
Things begin to unravel for the unsuspecting family as ghosts begin to appear in their day to day lives in their new home. To say this house is full of ghosts and paranormal activity would be an understatement. The ghost of Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia, even makes an appearance!
I have yet to see season-2, Asylum. Since I don’t have pay-TV, I will have to wait a few months. It will be well worth the wait. I am hooked on this series. I’m sure you will be too. So rent it, or buy it-just watch it! You won’t regret it. American Horror Story is one of the best shows to hit the TV screen in a long time!
