Green gummy worms are a Halloween recipe that the kids will really enjoy helping you make. All it takes are a few simple ingredients. Here we have a video tutorial from Todd at Simple Easy Cooking.
Watch how easy this is to make:
Supplies:
- Medium To Large Mixing Bowl
- Large Silicon Spatula or Spoonula
- Large Measuring Cup With Spout
- 1 Large Serving Plate
Ingredients:
- 100 Plastic Bendie Straws
- 1 Small Package Strawberry Flavored Jello
- 3 Packets Unflavored Gelatin (like Knox)
- 2 Cups Boiling Water
- 3/4 Cup Whipping Cream
- 1 Dozen Drops Green Food Coloring
Instructions:
1- Add 2 cups of boiling hot water to your mixing bowl. Use caution, depending on the age of kids that may be helping you.
2-Add the pack of strawberry flavored Jello to the hot water. Then add the 3 packs of Knox gelatin.
3-Stir everything thoroughly until the sugar in the Jello is completely dissolved and not grainy.
4- Let sit for approximately 30 minutes until mostly cooled.
5- Take all the straws and stretch out the bendy part.
6- Rubber band all the straws together. Place your straw bundle in a large drinking glass or some other stand up container. Make sure the bendy section is toward the bottom of the container.
7-Pour 1/2 cup of whipping cream along with the food coloring into the Jello mixture and stir together until well mixed.
8- Pour some of the green gummy mixture into a measuring cup with a spout and pour into the straws.
9- Freeze for approximately 20 minutes until the mixture sets up in the bottom of the container.
10- Finish filling up the straws with the remaining gummy mixture.
11- Place in refrigerator approximately 3 hours until completely set.
12- Remove worms onto the serving plate by first running medium hot to hot water over the outside of the straws for a few seconds. This will make them slide out easier. Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the top of the straws and slide them out onto the plate.
You can also add red food coloring to this recipe if you want to have red worms instead of green ones. You can add extra flavoring extract as well.
The kids will squeal with delight when you whip up this green gummy worms Halloween recipe!
